Can Of Worms

Let me start off by telling you about the reason of my long absence. I apologize ahead for the length of this post but there was no way I could open this can of worms and walk away with a small post. I also apologize ahead for the fact that I won't be able to complete this in a single post but there isn't just one can of worm that needed to be opened.

I Am Unicorn

Brittany - Out of all the kids in the school I think you are the biggest Unicorn

Kurt - I'm sorry!

Brittany - Well when a pony does a good deed he gets a horn and becomes a unicorn. Then he poops out cotton candy until he forgets he's magical and then his horn falls off and black unicorns, they become zebras.

Kurt - Oh...oh that's terrifying story

Brittany - No it's not. Okay no. My point is, is that...a unicorn is somebody who knows their magical and isn't afraid to show it. You went through hell last year and you never forgot how special you are.

I Still Get The Jitters

Back in the summer of '09 I attended a wedding in America. My cousins had assembled this list of things to do for me and one of the points on the list was to attend a Desi American wedding. I was really excited for that and fortunately a wedding was coming up in the month of June, just a few days after my arrival and before I started my electives.

Rishta Khala

With arranged marriages still running their reign with an iron-fist in the Indo-Pak community all around the world, we have certain technicalities and quirks that go hand in hand with them. One such thing is the Rishta Khala - something most find necessary but others like me find annoying. This particular creatures exist solely with in our community. I can tell you right now that you will not find another like her anywhere else, and somehow if you do - it will be nothing like ours. What we have is truly one of a kind; fortunately for you.

Jaago Pakistan

A few days back I was hanging out with a cousin who was visiting Pakistan with her two sons and husband. The elder son who's nine years old right now likes Pakistan. In fact he likes it so here that he wanted them to move here from States. His father is a very reasonable man, and innocence is something that he considers a weakness. "There is too much terrorism and corruption here to be happy!", he explained to the little boy.

On Sexuality

During my 9th Grade, we used to have these Self-Improvement classes. It was a class meant to raise our awareness of our forth-coming responsibility as adults. There was a wide variety of subjects covered in those classes. All were focused on honing our minds, perfecting our bodies and polishing our spirits.

One particular class that I remember even today is the one in which we were explained about our increasing attraction to the opposite sex. Our teacher said this one sentence that will never slip off my memory. "Sexuality plays a very important part in the structuring of our personality!"

Did I Tell You About The Time I Almost Got Someone Fired?

Sometime during 2003, my parents decided it was time to get a second car. With my dad away for work most of the time, the second car was supposed to stay at home for any errands that my grandparents would need to run. Since my mom used to work during the day, we hired a driver. He came through the reference of our maid at that time. In Pakistan, menial work comes cheap and just about everybody can find somebody to do it.

I Wished Upon A Time

Recently there was an engagement party of two friends. I knew one of them well, but the other not so much. They both are from my college and I have seen the two of them together quite often but I had no idea something like this was going on between them. The dude seemed like a player to me quite honestly, and the girl very small town.

Dedicated To You

I got a response a few days ago in Formspring. I felt that as much as it was for me, it's for everyone who follows and comments on my blog, especially on the Issues posts that I do on GPY!!!.

I get an E-mail or a comment with a problem, and then sometimes a few following the first one. I do what I can do to help and advice. But quite often it's not me who comes up with the best answer but one of you.

Yeah, you heard me right!

Daddy Issues

There have been three things in my to-do list that I must absolutely accomplish and once I have accomplished them, I can die as a very happy man. They are as follows;
  1. Having a very successful career as a medical practitioner
  2. Becoming a culinary expert
  3. Raising a child

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

I remembered it this year. I remember how last year I had forgotten all about it and dad called me up just before the clock struck 12 to remind me that I should wish you. But not this year. I remembered. I remembered that today it's your day. Today, it's Mother's Day!

The cake we cut on her previous Birthday. Her favorite bakery had closed so we bought this one at some random bakery and it wasn't all that good. Sorry, mum!

The Faithless

We are born. We live. We die. That's what every life that has ever arrived into this world goes through. Except for a few unfortunate ones, the journey is reasonably long. There are moments when things are looking up and we feel like we are on the top of the world. But there are also those moments when we feel we've hit the rock bottom of all rock bottoms. Through the good times and the bad, the one thing that we either thank for or look for is faith. Love connects two souls. Faith connects the soul to it's Creator.

Last week I felt the most faithless I have ever possibly felt in my entire life. I felt like an abandoned child in a park full of children with their parents. I was the only one who didn't have anyone to look up to. The only one who was not holding anyone's hand. It wasn't some issue with my parents. My parents are extremely supportive and loving individuals who have left no stone unturned in my upbringing and nurturing. Whatever flaws that reside in me are entirely due to my own negligence and stupidity.

It had nothing to do with Nathan either. Nor was it related to my studies. Well at least it wasn't directly linked to my studies. It started off abruptly but the end was slow and cruel. Possibly I haven't entirely gotten past it yet. It's still tailing me in the back of my mind. It all started when I was revising Forensic Medicine. Let me start of by making it clear that I am a huge fan of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. I think it's one of the most exciting subjects I have gotten the opportunity to study besides Psychology and Microbiology. I think it's absolutely amazing how you can draw inference from something completely mutilated and silent, and restore justice to it. I'm seriously considering it as a career but mother dear doesn't believe that Forensic Specialists are doctors. I'm not entirely sure, but it is on my list for consideration.

Incredibly Selfish or Extremely Smart?

Coming Out is a huge thing in the life of any gay person. It's the moment where he/she is not only completely sure of his/her sexuality but also willing to live as they are and not as what the societal norms expect them to be. Nobody comes out in any specific order but no doubt if people who have come out had to write down a list of the toughest coming out they had to do, parents would take the first spot on the list.

Multiple Online forums have huge discussions on Coming Out. One of the most frequent advice I have read on Coming Out is only to be done when one is financially independent and well settled. I found this advice extremely discerning for the reason that it seemed incredibly selfish to me. It's like saying, 'Yeah I'm Gay and if you don't like it, I don't care. I have money now so you can cut me off if you want to!'.

No Man Drama - I Promise

Yes, I know many of you will immediately roll your eyes upon noticing that I have started yet another blog. Another blog?! He's gone crazy!

I have a perfectly stable and running blog( Or so I like to believe) that you all know as Go Phunk Yourself!!! and then there is one detailing my nearly dead dating life - Coffee & Boys. They both are doing well and I don't think either of them will be coming to a halt any time soon. I know C&B has sort of been slow on posts lately but university and the lack of nice guys has taken my posting momentum down. I still have a few guys, both old and new I have to post about. GPY!!! has alot to come and it has a long way to go with many more incidents and many more twisted thoughts of mine. I hope you all are there to read and comment on them, also correct them if you think that a certain ideology is just way too messed up!
